  • Anyone who is familiar with Looney Tunes knows who Chuck Jones is. Working with the Chuck Jones Center for Creativity, I, as Project Manager, led a group of ten talented developers and designers to make a multi-function web based project with a wide audience in mind.
    Challenge
This was a huge endeavor, because we were tasked with creating two-way encryption login and a secure registration, generating a confirmation email for signing up on the site, creating a blog, mini blog, newsletter, message board and calendar with events and programs. We also were responsible for developing a page devoted to Chuck Jones and his history, a contact page, an area to collect donations, and a place to acknowledge corporate sponsors on the community page. We had to do all this while still keeping in mind that we were targeting the general public, as well as corporate investors.
    Management
One of the biggest challenges I had with this project was trying to arrange meetings with the CEO and his assistants and get information from this very busy client. I had to make the most out of the brief time I was given with the client so I would ask hundreds of questions to make each meeting as valuable as I could. Additionally, since the client comes from a creative background, they wanted functionality that was completely out of the scope of what we could do. My team had to listen to what the client wanted and find alternatives that we could manage, without losing the vision that the client had.
    Solution
I used Google Wave to communicate with my team so I could share with them the items that were discussed during the client meetings. Posting this information on Google Wave allowed all of the team members to see what we needed to get accomplished, talk about how the project was going, and ask any questions they had.
